Windy SR52 Blackbird
The masterpiece that changed everything for Windy and the chase boat that defined the supertender market. Superyacht Magazine rated her as Best Chase Boat 2015, but this exceptional boat has been turning heads since her arrival on the scene at the 2010 Cannes Yachting Festival. She is perhaps the ultimate fast weekender.
The Spirit of the Windy SR52 Blackbird
The Windy SR52 Blackbird’s sharp, aggressive styling with silky touches by Dubois Naval Architects Limited is synonymous with world-beating performance, luxury lifestyle and exceptional comfort. This boat wrote the rules for an offshore craft, seamlessly blending weekender accommodation with tender/chauffeur capability, day boat utility and superyacht build quality.
Engineering and Performance
The Windy SR52 Blackbird is dark, deeply desirable and effortlessly cool. She has the power to blow the cobwebs, and the competition away. Potent twin Volvo Penta IPS 800 or triple Volvo Penta IPS 650 engine options are the pulsing heart of the Windy SR52 BlackBird, and can deliver a 46 knot max. speed with astonishing grip and an exhilarating forty knot cruise. Power is delivered with ease, with muted exhaust noise trailing away in the clear wash from her propellers – so she is notably quiet under way. Her hydrodynamic razor-sharp deep-vee hull, drawn by Windy’s long-term collaborative naval architect Hans Jørgen Johnsen, serves up a super-dry ride for her passengers, remaining balanced and stable at speed, yet lithe and predictable in the confines of a marina. This ability is the result of Windy’s cutting edge vacuum injection moulding techniques, using a Divinycell core, with vacuum injected bulkheads and components contributing to exceptional structural strength, whilst still affording remarkable range.
Style does not trample function with the Windy SR52 Blackbird: her hull is protected by a practical rubberised fender, there is generous stowage volume throughout, chunky handholds to grab and her decks are incredibly safe to work. A bank of three ergonomic race-seats sit abaft the helm console, with further seating aft – so her crew are comfortable before the voyage has even begun. A variety of well-engineered windscreen and variable bimini solutions can be selected according to your cruising grounds, providing both protection and also plenty of open air.
